I'll talk about a man-made disaster. I chose the pollution of the sea because water is the basic resource to guarantee life to all living beings on the planet. Human beings are the main cause of water pollution, which can be affected in many ways: with the dumping of industrial waste. In the same way, the pesticides used in the agricultural fields are filtered through the underground channels and reach the consumption networks; and also with the accidental spill of oil. But these days the biggest problem has been plastic in the oceans. The truth is that we have lived with this problem for a long time, it is really sad and devastating to see how our seas, oceans, beaches, have been polluting. Becoming a danger for living beings. Currently the rate amounts to 9 million tons of plastic thrown into the ocean, some of these pieces of plastic are found deep in the sea and others pieces of plastic have been floating across our planet. What are the effects of water pollution? First, the disappearance of biodiversity and aquatic ecosystems. Have you ever seen dead animals in the sea? I have seen many marine animals, both fish and birds, have been dying and some others have been going extinct, all this because of the pollution of the sea with plastic. Secondly, humans are also seriously harmed by altering the food chain and we could contract diseases by drinking or using contaminated water, which will be fatal for us. Many times when it is hot we usually go to the beach with the family, we buy something to consume and everything has plastic wrap, now most of them when they finish eating, they throw the wrap into the sea or leave it on the sand and it was dragged into the sea already either by the wind or the waves of the sea. It is essential that we become aware that this way of acting is really irresponsible and can turn against us. We must make sure that what goes down to the beach with us must come back up. If we continue to pollute our oceans, almost all species of seabirds on the planet will eat plastic. Cigarette butts, bottles, caps, wrappers, bags, glasses, containers and all kinds of plastic objects constitute up to 73% of the waste found on our beaches, a scenario that often gives rise to unusual and dramatic situations. We must explain and make our families aware of the importance of taking care of the beaches because the survival of our seas will depend to a great extent on it. Some solutions to reduce this disaster could be: -Reduce the use of plastics and try to use other materials. -To make people aware of the disaster through brochures or posters. -Performing events to clean the beaches, among others.
