REPHRASINGS CONDICIONALES, UNIDAD 4
• STRUCTURES:
¡¡¡RECUERDA ESTAS COSAS IMPORTANTES!!!
-Con 2nd condiƟonal, es muy probable que se uƟlicen algunos modales, como “might”, “may” “could”: We could buy some bread if we had money. They might need some help if they decided to volunteer for a charity. BE CAREFUL! Si en el segundo condicional uƟlizamos el verbo TO BE, “were” es la forma que se uƟliza, tanto para singular como para plural: If I were you, I’d go on holidays. (Si fuera tú, me iría de vacaciones) If it weren’t so expensive, I would buy it! (Si no fuera tan caro, lo compraría) -Con 3rd condiƟonal también se pueden uƟlizar modales: might, may, could para expresar que algo no es seguro del todo: If they had known about the elecƟon, they might have voted. -Expresiones de Ɵempo que debes recordar:
- Unless: Si no, a menos que, a no ser que.
- I won’t do this unless you help me. (No lo haré si no me ayudas)
- Otras maneras de expresar “IF”:
- As long as (“siempre y cuando”, “bajo la condición de que…”):
- Crime levels will fall as long as we keep the same number of police officers.
- Provided that (“siempre y cuando”, “bajo la condición de que…”):
- Crime levels will fall provided that we keep the same number of police officers.
- BUT ONLY IF (solamente si…) Suele aparecer en oraciones con “but”:
- Crime levels will fall but only if we keep the same number of police officers.
- EVEN IF: (Incluso aunque…) Se suele uƟlizar cuando pase lo que pase, la acción no va a sufrir ningún cambio.
- Ej: The workers will go on a strike even if their wages are increased (Los trabajadores irán a la huelga incluso aunque se les suba el salario).
- I WISH/ IF ONLY Para expresar deseos y/o arrepenƟmientos. ¿Cómo funciona?:
- En PAST SIMPLE para expresar una situación del PRESENTE: +I wish I was taller. (Ojalá fuera más alto) -If only I was taller +I wish I didn’t have so much homework! (¡Ojalá no tuviera tantos deberes!) -If only I didn’t have so much homework!
