Damos el significado exacto de una observación o un discurso sin necesariamente usar las
palabras exactas del hablante. SAY y TELL + un objeto se utilizan con frecuencia en el
estilo indirecto, pero hay otros muchos verbos.

Direct Speech Indirect Speech Today That day Tonight That night Yesterday The day before The day before yesterday Two days before Tomorrow The next day / The following day The day after tomorrow In two days time Next week / year The following week / year Last week / year The previous week / year Ago Before Now Then Here There This That These Those QUESTIONS -Tiempos, pronombres personales, posesivos y adverbios de tiempo y lugar, igual que en las oraciones enunciativas. -La interrogativa pasa a estructura enunciativa, por lo que desaparece la marca interrogativa (?). -El verbo que introduce es ASK. -Si la pregunta en estilo directo está introducida por un pronombre interrogativo (WHEN, WHO…), esa palabra se conserva en el estilo indirecto. “Where do you live?” He asked me where I lived. -Si no hay pronombre interrogativo, se usará IF o WHETHER. “Did you go to London?” He asked me if I had gone to London. COMMANDS Verbo + objeto + infinitivo con TO. -No se producen cambios de tiempos verbales. -El verbo introductorio suele ser TELL. -Cuando va en negativa, se pone NOT delante del infinitivo. “Get your coat!” He told me to get my coat. 2
