Simple Present vs. Present Progressive –Signal Words
I.Observa y compara: ¿Cuándo usamos el Presente Simple y el Progresivo?
Primero decide si puedes comenzar tu comunicación con “Generalmente”, o
tienes que decir “Ahorita….” “En este momento….”
¿Hablas de lo que pasa en general o rutinariamente? ¿O quieres expresar lo que está
sucediendo en este momento?
Simple Present. Verbo auxiliar:
Do (3era Persona Does)
Present Progressive
Verbo auxiliary: Be
Generally, in general: regularly, often,
never, always, frequently.
Generally in Venezuela we have arepas for
breakfast.
Sometimes we get empanadas too.
Present actions happening one after
another (Acciones sucesivas):
Once, twice, every day, every 6 months,
on Mondays.
Colin plays football every Tuesday.
First Colin plays football, then he watches
TV.
Right now, at this very moment, as we speak
Look! Colin is playing football now.
The building is falling as we speak
Also several actions but they are happening
at the same time
Colin is playing football and Anne is watching.
Signal words
Always, every …., often, normally,
usually sometimes, seldom, never, first,
then.
At the moment, at this (very/exact) moment,
today, now, right, now, listen! Look!
