WHITE BEAR OPINION ESSAY
“Murderers should be tortured daily”
After watching the “White Bear” episode of Black Mirror, we have had the chance to think
about how murderers are punished nowadays. This episode talks about how the murderers
will be punished in the near future and how we are going to enjoy with it. I think this is a
creative way to punish the guilty person, but I don't know if it is done humanely.
First of all, I think when we torture or even give the death penalty to the murderer, we are
doing the same that this person has done. We would be making the same mistake they have
made. In fact, these people will not be who they were before, everyone will know who they
are and what they did. They will not have the same life, everything changes for them,
because they are hated by everyone. It is also true that some people don't even care about
this.
Secondly, I think that some alternatives of torturing have to be found. What happens in White
Bear is inhuman and the fact that people know what is really happening there is scary. That
is an example of how we could use this type of punishment for our own joy in the future.
In conclusion, I don't support violence in any form, but I have to admit that sometimes it may
be necessary. The murderer should feel what the victim has felt and there are therapies
where these things can be made and have positive outcomes.
