Opinion essay
Pollution, destruction of natural environments and global warming are issues
that concern us nowadays because they are taking their toll on our planet. Are
we doing enough to solve those problems?
The National Geographic Documentary on climate change: “Before the Flood”
by Leonardo DiCaprio struck me a lot. Honestly, I can’t choose what scene did it
the most; the entire documentary shocked me, not because it was new
information. That’s the worst part of it. I knew some things explained in the
documentary. What really shocked me were the images. Seeing all the gases
that some factories produce, the effect that climate change has on the North
Pole, some natural areas being exploited by human beings, forest been
destructed... moved me.
I think that’s unbelievable that after seeing images like those, some people like
Donald Trump, for example, still can defend that climate change doesn’t exist,
or it’s not important.
