This blockbuster came out in 1972 and was shot in New York and in Sicily. It is based on the Mario Puzo’s book, was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and written by Coppola and Puzo. It stars Marlon Brando as Vito Corleone and Al Pacino as his son, Michael, in the leading role. James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, John Cazale, Talia Shire and other famous actors are in it. This film was produced by Paramount Pictures and Alfran Productions. It is set in New York in the 1940s and 50s and is based on a story in which the Corleone family get involved in a war with other criminal families, because Vito Corleone, one of the most powerful criminal head in America, doesn't want to follow the advice of il consigliere and denies collaborating on drugs business. Don Vito is injured and the control of the family passes to Sonny, his eldest son. With him, the war becomes more violent and Michael, the youngest son of Vito, returns home to help his family. In the end, Michael becomes the new Godfather. The movie has you glued to the screen and won three Oscars in 1973 for Best Actor (Marlon Brando), Best Movie and Best Screenplay. From my point of view, it is one of the best drama films in the history of cinema. I love all the scenes of the film because the lights and colours are amazing, and the soundtrack involves you in the action of the film.
