Hamlet is a tragic play written by William Shakespeare in the early 17th century. The
story follows Prince Hamlet, the young prince of Denmark, who is devastated by the
death of his father, King Hamlet. Shortly after, his mother, Queen Gertrude, marries
his uncle, King Claudius, who becomes the new king of Denmark.
The play begins with the appearance of the ghost of King Hamlet, who reveals to his
son that he was murdered by his own brother, Claudius. Hamlet is overcome with
grief and anger and becomes obsessed with avenging his father's death.
As Hamlet begins to plan his revenge, he starts to behave erratically, causing
