The king of Denmark is dead, and his son Hamlet is distraught over his mother’s marriage to his uncle Claudius, the new king. The ghost of the late king appears to Hamlet, and he reveals that he was poisoned by his brother, Claudius, who married his widow Gertrude and usurped the throne. Hamlet wants a revenge, but he needs proofs of Claudius’s guilt. In concert with a troupe of actors, he stages a drama acting his father’s murder. Claudius’s horrified reaction confirms his guilt. While scolding his mother for her behavior, Hamlet mistakenly kills Polonius, the king’s advisor, hidden behind a curtain, mistaking him for Claudius. Claudius, seeing Hamlet as a threat, organizes a diplomatic trip to England tasking two of Hamlet’s friends to killing him upon his arrival. Hamlet discovers the plot and escapes the ship, returning to Denmark. Hamlet discovers that Ophelia, Polonius’s daughter and in love with him, took her life over her father's death and hamlet rejection. Her brother, Laertes, blames Hamlet for the death of his father and sister. Claudius and Laertes arrange a duel between Hamlet and Laertes with the poisons. Infact Laerte’s sword is poisoned and a cup of wine is also poisoned for Hamlet. During the duel, queen Gertrude accidentally drinks from the poisoned cup and dies. Hamlet and Laerte wound each other with the poisoned sword to death, but before dying Hamlet manages to revenge his father killing Claudius and tells his friend Horatio to recount his story.
