Arterial disorder Chronic Ischaemia (General) * Definition: Slowly gradual progressive arterial obstruction . %* Aetiology: The commonest causes of chronic ischaemia are: I. Above the age of 45 years: Atherosclerosis is the commonest cause. II. Below the age of 45 years: a) In diabetics: Presenile atherosclerosis is the main cause. b) In non diabetics: 1. In males: ¢ Buerger's disease in the lower limbs. ¢ Arteritis in both upper & lower limbs. 2. In females: ¢ Raynaud's disease & cervical rib in the upper limb ¢ Arteritis in both upper & lower limbs.
