Structural Classification: a) Synovial joints : The knee and hip joints are classified as synovial joints because they have a synovial cavity filled with synovial fluid between the articulating surfaces of the bones. b) Diarthroses : This classification refers to freely movable joints, allowing for a wide range of motion. Functional Classification : Diarthroses: Functionally, the knee and hip joints are classified as diarthroses because they are freely movable and allow various movements. 3. List all the hand joints that osteoarthritis affects. Be sure to mention the structural classification of these hand joints. Osteoarthritis can affect several hand joints, including: a. Carpometacarpal joints : These are located at the base of the thumb, where the metacarpal bone meets the trapezium bone of the wrist. b. Metacarpophalangeal joints : These joints are found between the hand's metacarpal bones and the fingers' proximal phalanges. c. Proximal interphalangeal joints : These joints are situated between the proximal and middle phalanges of the fingers. d. Distal interphalangeal joints : These joints are located between the middle and distal phalanges of the fingers.
