Nowadays organizations are more flexible in terms of benefit offerings. It is the need of today’s business due to stiff competition. Especially for those employees who have family-related issues. There is great deal of work force diversity and female work force is increasing day by day. The organizations focus on providing more benefits to females to manage career and family, especially for those female employees who have kids. But some organizations are not providing support to females having families or kids. Since mother has central role in family therefore her support is necessary for her kids. And that was the case of one air hostess. Shazia had worked as an air hostess in an airline. Due to her nature of job, she was frequently away from home. She developed a good system to take care of her child. A regular baby-sitter was appointed for this purpose. Her husband also shared the responsibility and took care of the child in the morning and back from office. One day she received a call that her child had been ill. She thought it would not be a major trouble. She thought she would be home at 8:00 PM after the plane landed. When she arrived at Lahore airport, she was notified by a company’s scheduler that plane had to return to Manchester immediately and it was compulsory for her to serve as a crew member of the flight. It was an unexpected event and not routine change. It was a major problem for Shazia. Since her husband was also unavailable to go home immediately. Her baby-sitter had to leave on time. It was a frustrating dilemma for her! Shazia requested to manage another member who wanted to return from Lahore to Manchester. It was unusual situation, time was short and scheduler could not replace her. Airline was generally flexible to deal with family matters. But at last, Manchester based air hostess agreed for the trip. Due to this hassle the flight was delayed and Shazia was terminated from her job.
