Primary storage is the main memory where the operating system resides such as RAM and computer's internal hard drive holds data, programs and instructions that are currently in use. While on the other hand, secondary storage is non-volatile and long-term storage which can be external devices like CD, floppy magnetic discs etc. and it cannot be directly accessed by the CPU. 2. Why do you need to store data? Computer data storage is a very important part of a system providing the most significant function of retaining, storing, retrieving and transferring information in an efficient way. Electronic data storage is more efficient and it protects and secure data. Also allows better visibility and more accessible. Computer data storage includes all computer devices, components and other recording media. 3.What storage/s are found on the CPU? The two types of storage inside the main memory are RAM and ROM. Random Access Memory (RAM) is the part of the memory the computer uses to store volatile data. All data stored in it will be lost or erased when the computer power is turned off or interrupted. While Read-Only Memory (ROM) stores the given instructions for the routine operations of a computer. This part is non-volatile or it still holds the instructions even when there is a power interruption or shut-off.
