1. Do the ends justify the means?
No, because the experiment caused a lot of psychological harm.
2. Informed Consent
Informed consent can be taken away at any point.
3. Grounds for complaints?
Yes, because they were unaware they had other brothers which would
completely change their childhood.
4. Standards/restrictions on adoptions? Do you separate twins?
Keep twins and triplets and siblings together but if you have to separate them
due to different circumstances, try to keep them in touch with each other.
5. Group foster instead of individual placement?
Separate them but keep them in touch
6. "Worse" environment to keep siblings together?
No

7. What does it mean to say that a trait is controlled by genetics? By the environment?
Genes are what people are born with and environmental traits are learned.
8. What similarities did the triplets have?
How they looked and they had very similar interests.
9. EVCs, versus not?
EVCs = looks
Not EVCs = personality/interests
10. Controlled by genetic or environmental causes (or both)?

How the boys look is controlled by genetics. And their personalities and interests are caused by both.

  1. Do you think that any of the triplets’ similarities are just due to chance? Yes such as smoking because smoking was a popular thing to do at this time and there was not very many cigarette brands.
  2. Conclusions re: effects of rearing? It is based on nurture and how kids can deal with their mental illnesses.
  3. Should triplets have been told? I think they would have all found out eventually and if they were not told it could have been worse when they did find out.
  4. Possible outcome if all raised in one home together? I think they would have differed more because they may not have all wanted to be the same.
  5. What if Eddy had been raise in Boobala's home? Yes, because he would have had a better support system and wouldn’t have to deal with his depression on his own.
  6. Would Bobby and/or David have killed themselves as well? No, I think it also depends on their mental state and how they are able to control it and what type of support system they have.
