This report also mentions CDP, to clearly show us a process of growth and results if we continuously maintain self-development. B. DISCUSS TH E IMPORTANCE OF TEAM DYNAMICS IN THE SUCCESS AND/OR FAILURE OF GROUP WORK(P5)

I. Definition of team dynamics

The concept of team dynamic refers to the effect of an individual on the team as a whole. It explains how one person's action in a team affects all of the other members of that team or group. Team dynamics include how the team works, how the team is feeling at the time, and, of course, how the workspace environment feels. The happiness of each individual in a team must be consistently maintained in order for the mood of the entire team to be positive and productive. The happiness of the team members is a critical component of a successful project. (Raihan Armon, Jul 16, 2021)

P a g e | 2 Figure 1 : Team Dynamics

1.1 Human Behavior Is Often Unpredictable

One of the most important aspects of group dynamics is human behavior, which is unpredictable and largely uncontrollable (Beth Osborne, March 19th, 2020). However, as an effective leader, you have the ability to influence behavior. With the right team-building strategies, you can influence your team's attitudes and interactions.

1.2 Positive Team Dynamics Examples

When you have a fully engaged group of employees who are achieving their objectives, you are on the right track. However, this road will have curves and bumps along the way. Keep in mind that you are dealing with human behavior. This is influenced not only by what happens in the workplace but also by what happens in employees' personal lives. (Beth Osborne, March 19th, 2020) When looking at positive team dynamics examples, there are several core competencies to highlight:

  • Alignment : Each member of the team understands the direction and goals.

P a g e | 4 For example : In my group, A new member a group has caused friction with old members. As a result, they tend to be resistant to any change she tries to bring about. Her every opinion is rejected by everyone whether it is good or bad. This increasingly causes disunity among group members. But we found a way to promptly resolve the conflict. She was guided by her job description, which gave her more responsibility than the team expected. The misunderstanding was cleared up during a team-building workshop, and the roles and responsibilities of the team members were and agreed upon. Since then, my team's work productivity has become more effective.

2.1 Failure

  • Weak Leadership - When a team lacks a strong leader, it can open the door for a dominant team member to take control, leading to a lack of direction and conflict.
  • Authority and Team Ideology - Excessive respect for authority can lead to group stagnation as members prefer to agree with the leader rather than offer creative ideas and perspectives. Groupthink can have a similar effect.
  • Blocking Behavior - Aggressive, negative, withdrawn, recognition-seeking, and even humorous behavior can impede the flow of information within the group.
  • Taking it easy at the expense of others - Some team members making it easy at the expense of others can lead to poor team motivation and results.
  • Evaluation anxiety - Team members may hold back their comments and ideas because they believe they are being unfairly criticized by other team members. For example of a company that was once great but ultimately failed is Hewlett-Packard, a Silicon Valley icon. During the 1990s, Hewlett-Packard was a leader in computers and printers. Hewlett- Packard inherits a strong heritage of internal innovation. However, as Hewlett-Packard's innovation engine shut down, the company began to depend on acquisitions to drive growth. This changes the company's culture and focus. That led to the failure of a seemingly irreplaceable large company.

III. In my group

Another aspect that is frequently adopted by my team is the idea of constant communication and team building. Each and every single of one of the members on the dev team are familiar and friendly with each other because we were already friends before. This has helped us in almost every aspect of this project. The team dynamics is always positive also because of how as friends we want to make sure everyone succeeds. When you see your friend struggling then of course you try and help him, this concept is crucial to how my team works because it’s exactly our mindset during the project implementation.

  • We make sure team dynamics is always good by also sharing our opinions and criticisms in a

P a g e | 5 constructive and helpful way so that the recipient can actually learn positive things from it instead of feeling bad for doing wrong.

  • We also play games during free time in between assignments so that the mood is always fun and light-hearted when we get together. When the team dynamic is good, then best be sure that the project flow is doing great as well. C. WORK WITHIN A TEAM TO ACHIEVE A DEFINED GOAL (P6) Everyone must be part of a team at some point - whether for a sport, school, or work. It is important to recognize that team dynamics will have an enormous impact on the success of the group. There are five stages of group work:
    • Forming - Group comes together and sets goals
    • Storming - Leadership of the group may be challenged, and ideas may be questioned
    • Norming - Group comes together to form a single plan for the common goal
    • Performing - Group is working together to accomplish their goal
    • Adjourning - Group dissolves and reflects on successes and failures

I. Introduction of my group work

P a g e | 7 knowledge through interactive, participatory, or self-directed learning. It enables learners to build their professional competencies proactively through accredited learning or self-directed learning approaches. (Liz Burton-Hughes, July 20, 2017) Technical and non-technical skills should be developed so that learners get the expertise and understanding needed to handle professional issues from diverse perspectives. Figure 2 : What is CPD

II. Why CPD importance

Many professions, such as law, medicine, and accountancy, have defined requirements for ongoing CPD, where employees must demonstrate their ability to adhere to current essential standards. However, CPD also assists people in maintaining a consistent set of high-quality, relevant skills and knowledge throughout their working lives. The best aspect is that CPD positions learners to demonstrate new knowledge, work to high standards, and advance in their careers. (Liz Burton- Hughes, July 20, 2017)

P a g e | 8

III. The benefits of CPD

CPD benefits for the learner:

  • Refines your personal skills and intellect and helps to plug any knowledge gaps.
  • Keeps academic and practical qualifications up to date – keeping skills relevant is integral in today’s fast-moving world, where rapid progression can quickly lead to previous learning becoming obsolete.
  • Opens pathways to career progression or potential redirection, including achieving higher salaries and better job security.
  • Enhances your ability to regularly learn and improve – you’ll learn quickly as you become acquainted with the process and will become a better independent learner.
  • Demonstrates ambitiousness, aptitude, and a dedication to self-improvement to current and prospective employers and clients.
  • Provides valuable examples and scenarios for showcasing professional achievements and growth in CVs, cover letters, and interviews.
  • Reduces feelings of uncertainty or worries about change – CPD gives you a plan for future aspirations and the ability to readily adapt.
  • Promotes independence – self-directed CPD requires you to consciously engage in learning activities and follow your own plan, while some structured CPD activities can benefit from you engaging in further research and study. (Liz Burton-Hughes, July 20, 2017)

CPD benefits for the business:

  • Ensures that standards throughout the company are consistently high.
  • Improves efficiency and productivity with highly skilled and motivated staff.
  • Enhances the business’s reputation among customers and clients as well as potential employees.
  • Promotes a healthy learning culture.
