Solid-state NMR Services

X-ray crystallography, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and Cryo-electron microscopy

(Cryo-EM) are three of the most predominant techniques in structure biology. They are

powerful tools that help structural biologists get an insight into the bioprocess

mechanism. NMR is a non-destructive method which providess information on chemical

structure and dynamics with atomic resolution. Unlike solution-state NMR, which is good

at resolving small protein structure and obtaining dynamic information of soluble

materials, solid-state NMR (ssNMR) is a powerful technique for the characterization of

solid materials. With solid-state NMR methods, information about structure symmetry,

dynamics, and interactions of molecules and complexes can be obtained.

With the recent development of the solid-state NMR technique, high-resolution spectra

can be obtained in combination of of cross polarization (CP) and magic angle spinning

(MAS) techniques. Besides, solid-state NMR is a powerful and complementary tool to

Raman and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) for polymorph characterization.
