Issue: A mobile legend has caused young people to be less able to concentrate and focus on their
studies.
An online game is a video game that is played either partly or entirely over the Internet or via
some other accessible computer network. Online games, including PCs, consoles and handheld
devices, are common on modern gaming platforms and cover many genres, including first-person
shooters, strategy games and huge online multiplayer role-playing games (MMORPG).
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang was developed and released by Moonton as a mobile multiplayer
online battle arena (MOBA). Released in 2016, the game has become popular in Southeast Asia
and was one of the games chosen at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines for the
first medal event esports contest.
Most students play Mobile Legends to decrease the level of stress or anxiety due to daily living
activities, but some of them become addicted to the game and that has a major factor in their
studies. Teachers and parents should train students to set limits on playing Mobile Legends and
accepts the responsibilities within the study not within the game.
In a study conducted by Dr. Larry Rosen, a psychology professor at California state university-
Dominguez Hills, students were observed studying for a 15 minutes period where they were told
to “study something important.” He found was that students generally started to lose focus after
about 3 minutes. Dr. Rosen did another study where he surveyed High School students and asked
them how often they switch from studying to doing something related to technology such as
texting. Across all grade levels 80% of students reported that they switch between studying and
