Work Study
In Work Study, you will work a minimum of five hours in a paid job. You will be learning how to do
the job well, but you will also be paying attention to one of the items from the "Work Study
Questions" below. You can choose which question to focus on each week.
Each week in class, show your work study supervisor:
documentation of your hours worked (a copy of your time card or note signed by your boss is
sufficient)
A couple written sentences answering the Work Study Question of the week.
You can use the rest of class time for homework
WORK STUDY QUESTIONS
1) How does your boss/supervisor deal with difficult customers? Do you think you'd do it the
same way?
2) What do your co-workers do to help keep the facility clean? How can you contribute?
3) What are some things you can do so that your boss knows you are trustworthy?
4) If you have free time at work, what are some things you can do to help the business?
5) How does your company keep things organized? What do you see that they could do better?
6) What are some things you think your company could do to attract new customers?
7) What is your favorite part of your job? Least favorite?
8) What is something you've learned on the job that you might not have learned in school?
9) What steps did you go through to get hired? Do you think there could be a better process?
10) What type of advertising does your company do? If advertising were your responsibility,
would you choose the same methods and messages?
11) If you could take over anyone else's job at the company, which one would it be? Why did you
choose it?
12) What type of skills do you have that makes you good at your job? What would you like to
learn to help you do even better?
13) Would you recommend that a good friend get hired by your company? Why or why not?
14) What types of comments do you hear customers saying about the company? Do you think
they are generally pleased or displeased with the business? What could be done to make sure
customers stay loyal to the company?
15) Does the company presents an inviting image to customers in their building? What do you
see that is being done well? What do you think could be done better?
16) Does your company have a website? If so, do you think it contributes to the company's
growth? Why or why not? If the company doesn't have a website, what type of information and/or
graphics do you think they should have on it?
17) What kind of skills do you think the company leaders (not just your boss, but others as well)
have that make them successful in their jobs? What do you think they could learn to be even
better?
18) What type of clothing do the company leaders wear to work? Do you think it helps or hinders
them in doing their job? What type of clothing do you think would be best for leaders to wear?
