a firm commits itself to follow in every case where
an employee has to be warned or dismissed. Failure
to follow a fair and transparent disciplinary
procedure may result in legal penalties and/or
annulment of the firm's action.
Financial settlement: A lump sum paid to the
insured that ends the insurer's responsibilities under
the policy.
Trade Union: An organization whose membership
consists of workers and union leaders, united to
protect and promote their common interests.
Employment Tribunal: (in England, Scotland, and
Wales) a tribunal that rules on disputes between
employers and employees regarding unfair
dismissal, redundancy, etc.
