Example

Introduction The purpose of this report is to evaluate how well the Chess Club is working, recommend any improvements that could be made and suggest how the club could attract new members. Successes in the club Over the last year, the club has offered a lot to members. There have been, more competitions than in previous year and, as a consequence , more inter-club events. This has tha added advantage of raising the quality of the games played. In addition, there has been more coaching by senior members, especially for younger members, and this appears to have been successful as numbers have increased. Recommendations for improvements If the club wishes to better its position in the local league table, it would be sensible to consider formal training from a professional expert. This could be funded through memberships fees, but there could be a selection process for participants. In order to give members further practice, it might be an idea to run “fast game” sessions on Saturday mornings, to allow as many people to play as possible. Suggestions for attracting new members The club still wishes to attract more members, especially young people. We could give a demonstration or coaching sessions at the local primary school, to spark interest in pupils. We could also offer reduced fees for limited period. Overall , the club has had a successful year but we can continue to progress, especially if these recommendations are implemented.
