Customs and Traditions

Handshake

The squeeze is the norm to health for the first time, as well as

for a formal congratulation, the signing of a contract, in normal

greetings, or when congratulating someone on their birthday.

Sometimes even children shake hands with each other.

It is customary to carry gifts when one comes to an invitation.

The usual thing is to bring a bottle of wine, chocolates or a

bouquet of flowers to the host.

Carnival

Carnival is a custom of German culture. It is celebrated before

Easter. It is a celebration that allows you to enjoy the party

atmosphere before taking refuge during Ash Wednesday.

As this period precedes Easter (and Lent), it is customary for red

meat and alcohol to be consumed throughout the carnival event.

People often dress up and perform live for the enjoyment of

others. During the German carnival it is common to see people

dressed in clown costumes and allegorical clothing.

Parades and food wars are fundamental traditions of the great

carnivals in Germany, such as the Cologne Carnival.

People often dress in shorts with suspenders on the shirt and

also wear satirical masks.

Oktoberfest

This party began to be celebrated in the early 19th

century, after the royal wedding between King Ludwig and

Princess Teresa.

This celebration is known as Theresenwiese, which means

"The meadow of Teresa", in honor of the princess.

The Oktoberfest is a tradition that takes place every year

from the end of September and runs until the first week of

October.

The event consists mainly of consuming "Oktoberfest

Beer".

Traditional German beer is served, a host of attractions are

organized including carnival games and amusement park

rides.

 Traditional German clothing is not worn every day, it is unique

clothing.

 Leather shorts, a tank top, with a black hat and black buckle

shoes, are part of the traditional dress that forms the basis of

German culture. It is common to wear high stockings, which

reach to the knees

Gastronomy

 The German culinary tradition is made up mostly of pork, beef

and chicken. It is the basis of their diet and an indispensable

ingredient in their typical food dishes.

 The quintessential German drink is beer and is a good

accompaniment to your dishes. It is usually served in half-liter

jugs.

Rules to follow and

prohibitions

It is illegal to run out of gas when you are on the road, it is considered personal

negligence, and stopping is also prohibited because you have no speed limits.

Talking about "you" to a police officer carries a fine.

Crossing the street when the traffic light is red, is the worst thing you can do,

people will look at you badly.

Failure to recycle or dump trash in a neighbor's bin will cause you a lot of

trouble.

In Germany pedestrians are highly respected, so if you go by car you are

prohibited from crossing before a pedestrian.

When you go to park you have to take care that your car does not touch the

next car, for them the car is too valuable.

Normally in the bus, train and metro stations there are some machines that will

sell your ticket, some tourists believe that they can circumvent security by not

buying the ticket but when they go up there will be a person who will ask for it

 It means "the new stone swan" is the building that

inspired Walt Disney to create the Sleeping Beauty

castle, it is the most photographed place in the region.

 It was used by merchants and farmers for the sale and

exchange of products, it is the center of the transport

network and the meeting point for many people.

Museum island

 It was built as an area dedicated to art and science, it

includes the German historical and cultural heritage.
