ENGLISH FOR DRIVERS LESSONS
(SKETCH)
LESSONS:
1. Greetings
2. Trip and Driving Expressions
3. Small Talk
4. Adresses and Directions
5. Sightseeing and Landmarks
6. Tourism and Places to Visit
METHODOLOGY:
English for Drivers has to be taught centered in the vocabulary, expressions, and conversations
the drivers are expected to have with travellers from other countries who speak English and
need to be taken to different places in Pereira and the Coffee region, having an assertive and
fluent comunication.
According to this, the common expressions/phrases in these environments need to be
introduced first and the explanation of them will come later. This means that the grammar
topics and other formal and structural contents of the English Language will be driven in a
secondary form during the classes.
Suggested Sequence:
1. Drill the expressions or vocabulary on a specific situation or context.
2. Explain the drivers what the expressions or conversation mean.
3. Translate if necessary.
4. Listen to drivers/students and give feedback.
5. Explain the grammar beneath the phrases if necessary.
6. Make them model the phrases/conversation between students or between the teacher and
a student.
7. Exercise: Students will have to complete a conversation or vocabulary proposed on a
prompt. (Assessment)
8. Praise and give feedback
