1. Write the following statements into reported speech
“I can’t answer the question.” Ann said.
“We have been listening to music.” Paul added.
“Peter will arrive by train.” John said.
“They are opening a new store in town.” Helen said.
“The shoes are too big for me.” Alan said.
“Spain has a Mediterranean coastline.” Paul said.
2. Use the reported speech
“I’m having friends for lunch today.” He said.
“We will go there tomorrow.” Paul told me.
“I’m going abroad next summer.” My father said.
“I posted the parcel two days ago.” Martin said.
3. Use the direct speech
David complained that he had to walk two kilometers to school
every day.
Ruth said that she might be a little late for the meeting tonight.
She added that she took vitamins in order to stay healthy.

The teacher announced that he was going to give us a test the following day. She told me that she would start her diet the following week. Paul said he was writing a letter then. They mentioned that they were finishing high school that day.
