VERB PATTERNS
1) Get + object + infinitive with to
Ex. I shouted, but couldn’t get her to hear me .
2) Have + object + infinitive without to
Ex. We’ll have someone fix the computer.
3) Make + object + infinitive without to
Ex. My parents make me clean my room every week.
Ex. He was made to pay back the stolen money.
-We use it to talk about preferences.
Ex. I’d prefer the government to spend less money on arms.
- Present simple with an active meaning Verbs: Get, Have, Leave, Keep, Find.
Ex. I can’t get the TV working! / The doctors will soon have you walking again.
- Past simple with a passive meaning Verbs: Get, Have, Leave, Prefer, Want.
