TOPIC: F1, AN EXCITING SPORT
I have chosen to talk about Formula 1 because I love this sport and
is one of the most famous motorsports in the world. This sport is also
considered one of the most dangerous, due to the speed that cars can reach.
In this sport we have been seeing some of the best athletes in history, such
as Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton or Fernando Alonso.
What do you think about Michael Schumacher?
1- A little bit of F1 history that you should know
Had you ever heard that the beginnings of F1 were in the early 50s? After
WW2, FIA contributed with the formation of the Formula One World
Championship in 1950, whose first race took place in Silverstone circuit,
in the UK, with the Italian Giuseppe Farina, who used to drive an Alfa
Romeo, and was the winner of the race. After this, more and more races
have been racing for 70 years, more or less.
What do you know about F1 history? Would you like to have lived the
beginning of Formula 1?
2-Some things have been changing in the current Championship
During this year, the Dutchman Max Verstappen has been dominating the
season with his Red Bull, with his partner Sergio “Checo” Pérez in second
place. Meanwhile, the Spaniard Fernando Alonso is ranked third in the
drivers championship. Other drivers as the seven world-champion, Lewis
Hamilton, who used to dominate in the recent years with Mercedes, now
has a non-competitive car, which does not allow him to fight with the top
drivers. If he had a car with more prominent features, he would be able to
win again, as he’s a great driver.
What would you say it’s more important to win a race, the car or the
pilot?

3-How Formula 1 is likely to change in the future Over the past few years, Formula 1 has been growing and there are no plans to slow down. These days, countries like Saudí Arabia, Qatar, etc, have been investing a considerable amount of money in hosting more races. It is all about the spectacle and money, although between now and 2030 there will be the introduction of new engines and zero-emission fuel. There are so many problems too, because historical races like Monaco can be replaced from the calendar because of all of the new “investors” from arabic countries, at their majority. I think people would be happier if these new circuits couldn’t enter F1. How do you think F1 might progress in the future? 4- My favourite drivers: Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz Well, about my personal preferences regarding the drivers, if I had to choose one or two, I would say that my favourite drivers today are Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz Jr. I go with these drivers, principally, because of their nationality, they’re Spanish. But with Alonso it is something different. I think Fernando is the best driver of all time. He has been driving for 18 years in F1, he worked with Ferrari for 4 years and some experts and former drivers had said that in 2012, Alonso had the best year that they can remember from a driver, putting the fourth best car in the battle of the championship. The same Alonso lost the championship in the last race by 3 points. He could have won, but it wasn’t possible in the end. About Sainz, now he is driving for Ferrari. By this time last year, he was in third position, but now he is in fifth. Sainz said that this year was going to be more difficult because the other teams have made a competitive car, putting Ferrari options for the title at the minimum. And what about you, who is your favourite driver?
