Written essay 1: “Sports Stars earn ridiculously large salaries”
Today it is known that sports superstars earn exorbitant amounts of money due to millionaire
contracts with teams or sponsors but what is behind all this? Why? There are people who believe
that the amounts of money they earn is ridiculously large.
I think that everything has a cost and it has been difficult for them to stand out to become sports
superstars. Today's super stars have also had their beginnings the vast majority do not receive
the necessary support from their country (government) basically, the athletes did not receive
salaries and had to pay for their training and uniforms by themselves or seek sponsors.
A clear example in Peru we have a medalist Gladys Tejeda winner of 11 important medals in her
career as an athlete. on having a medal ,Gladys received a salary and also a house . But what
had happened if Gladys had not stood out as an athlete?
What I mean by this is an athlete won’t receive benefits or earn money unless he/she wins
medals or excels in something important
I think the superstars of sports have had to take these risks of an uncertain future, none of them
knew for sure that they would earn exorbitant salaries and that they would become the best
On the other hand, let's talk about the pros and cons of these well-paid athletes.
Cons
while an athlete is medalist or pro player (professional player) ,he will receive support but the
panorama is totally different for a retired athlete a retired athlete stops earning money
immediately
athletes are exposed to serious injuries, but even they can be expose to other problems like
mental health
These athletes spend a lot of time training or concentrating, therefore they do not have time for
their families
Pros
monthly income that can reach half a million dollars
gain recognition and many sponsors
to conclude i would like give my own opinion I think that the salary that these elite athletes earn
is well supported since they make a lot of effort for that .
Athletes rarely manage to achieve such high salaries, so they basically take these risks to venture
into an uncertain future.
finally I do not want to say that a non-athlete does not deserve to earn a high salary I think they
deserve it but this does not depend on me or on the elite athletes this is a very sensitive issue
since many non-athletes are paid by the government while athletes from elite are paid by
companies ,companies that recognize the efforts of their stars.

I think that's one of the bad things that the sport has developed over time. That

would be where sports stars earn ridiculously large salaries , because sports has

become an industry that no longer promotes what it used to stand for. Let it be

just a sport, where we can all participate and appreciate it without having to spend

more than 50 dollars on a ticket. Now they only exclude and highlight some sports

just to market them. Leaving several athletes who earn too much in oblivion

seems like an obsession.

Even creating rivalries where it causes disasters and conflicts between people to

get to that level of fanaticism that has been selling the sport.

A great example could be seen in soccer.

It is a very striking sport that has been seen mostly on television or any media.

It's available to many people, but ask them about surfing, baseball, football,

volleyball, or badminton. Quite the opposite is rarely seen or known, because

these sports are currently left with little support where some sports cannot shine.

For example, this month we won a gold medal in a Pan American sport, but you

have seen people celebrate. No one speaks or gets emotional while they

continue crying for not having entered the World Cup or because Gareca retired.

Only that matters to the public, everything is a business.

To the athletes who give them too much support and a good salary, despite that

some make a terrible use that makes you wonder why they continue to support

instead of innovating or improving other institutions in our country.

Another example was when we were in charge of the Lima 2019 Pan American

Games. We witnessed that they created new facilities, that had never been

needed up to that point.

For me it was somewhat disappointing that they were late, what the FDA should

do is try to promote and show the various sports as athletes, equally. Not trying

to overshadow or highlight one sport from the other, since each sport has

something special and entertaining that we could all appreciate.
