NOTE: Broad meaning: Pss. 103:19; 113:5; Matt. 5:34; Eph. 1:20; Col. 1:16; Heb. 12:2; Rev. 7: 1.Narrow meaning: 1 Chr. 16:31; Ps. 97:1-2; Matt. 6:10. 2.Inauguration: Matt. 2:2; 4:23; 9:35; 27:11; Mark 15:2; Luke 16:16; 23:3; John 18: 3.Continuation: Matt. 24:14; Rom. 14:16-17; 1 Cor. 4:19-20; Col. 4: 4.Consummation: 1 Cor. 15:50-58; Rev. 11:

Chapter 5:

  • Beatitudes are the poor in the spirit, the mourn (because of sins), the meek (spiritual meekness, the posture of humility and submission to God), the righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers and the persecuted;
  • Salt and light of the earth ( “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 'Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. ' Matthew 5:13,

III. Fating: Mathew is saying not to show you are fasting wanting to show yourself spiritual so he speaks to keep it secret from God but it is NOT wrong to say you are fasting with the right motivation. Jesus did this, otherwise how would we know that he fasted 40 days in the desert? Only he was and the devil there so I think jesus told his disciples IV. In verses 32 shows us concern and lack of confidence is lack of knowledge of God. (pagans do that and haven´t knowledge of God) V. One of my favorite verses:‘‘Seek first his kingdom and his righteouness, and all these things will be given to you as well”(Verse 33).

Chapter 7:

  • Julging others (Verses 1-6)
  • Persistence in prayer (Verses 7-12)
  • The narrow and large gates (Verses 13- 14)
  • A tree and its fruits (Verse 15-23)
  • The wise and foolish man (Verse 24-29) NOTES: I. Jesus does not approve of the kind of judgment that condemns others mistakes. but approves the correction of those who are humble and first look at their mistakes II. (verses 7-12) this verse makes me ask: why should we pray if God already knows everything we need? Prayer is a form of gratitude to God. and also God wants to give the holy spirit only to those who ask with all heart.

How should we pray? we must first: call him close and pray for things

as he spoke (everything our soul and body needs / mathew 6: 9-13).

second: humble ourselves in front of his majesty third: we need to know

that God wants to answer our requests.

Chapter 8:

  • The man with leprosy (Verses 1-4)
  • The faith of the centurion (Verses 5-13)
  • Jesus heals many (Verses 14-17)
  • The cost of following jesus (Verses18-22)
  • Jesus acalms the storm (Verses 23-26)
  • The healing of two demon-possed men (Verses 28-34) NOTES:

I. (Verses 18-22) Radical commitment that jesus requires of the disciples.

II. (verse 21) Burying their own parents was an obligation of Jewish

society but jesus wants a greater commitment/loyalty to him.
