Cell Structure & Functions
1. Define the parts of the cell
The Levels of Organization in the Body
1.Chemical (for example hemoglobin in the blood)
2.Cellular
3.Tissue (for example connective tissue which help to arranged and
bring other organs together and support the structures of the body)
4. Organ Level When different types of tissues organize
together, they form an organ
(
5.System Level When different organs come together, they
form the higher label which is system level
(
(
Notice: Organs have to be healthy so that the system can do its works
(
Define the Cell
Cell is the smallest functional unit of the body
It is described as a functional unit because it reproduced itself i.e., cells have
limited span life so they need to replicate and divide into new cells before they
die
There are two type of cells that make up all living things
Eu karyotic cells
Have nucleus and cell/Plasma membrane
Enclosed by that membrane is the
cytoplasm
Prokaryotic cells
like bacteria, have no nucleus
Functions of the Cell
1.It obtains nutrients from the surrounding environment
2.It maintains its shape and integrity
3.It can replicate
4.It disposes wastes

Cell Structure & Functions

1. Define the parts of the cell

 The Levels of Organization in the Body

1.Chemical (for example hemoglobin in the blood) 2.Cellular 3.Tissue (for example connective tissue which help to arranged and bring other organs together and support the structures of the body)

  1. Organ Level When different types of tissues organize together, they form an organ 5.System Level When different organs come together, they form the higher label which is system level Notice: Organs have to be healthy so that the system can do its works

 Define the Cell

 (^) Cell is the smallest functional unit of the body It is described as a functional unit because it reproduced itself i.e., cells have limited span life so they need to replicate and divide into new cells before they die  (^) There are two type of cells that make up all living things Eu karyotic cells Have nucleus and cell/Plasma membrane Enclosed by that membrane is the cytoplasm Prokaryotic cells like bacteria, have no nucleus

 Functions of the Cell

1.It obtains nutrients from the surrounding environment 2.It maintains its shape and integrity 3.It can replicate 4.It disposes wastes

 Parts of the Cell

 (^) Nucleus: controls the activity of the cell  (^) Plasma Membrane: the outer boundary  (^) Cytoplasm: contain cell organelles;

  1. Mitochondria
  2. Ribosomes
  3. Endoplasmic Reticulum
  4. Golgi apparatus
  5. Lysosomes
  6. Cytoskeleton

2. Describe the structure and functions of the

plasma membrane

 Define the Plasma Membrane

 Plasma membrane is known as Fluid Mosaic Model

 Mosaic means small tiny structures that are fitted together (الفسيفساء)

 The main advantage of having these small particles fitted is to give extra

extensive flexibility

 Because they are fitted together, it is easy to allow things to cross through

the cell

 It is made up of phospholipid bilayer (double) that because of

Hydrophobic lipid tails: oriented inwards & Hydrophilic heads: face outwards (they love connection with water)
