Week 6 Mindfulness Reflection This week we are writing out our thoughts after watching the video provided. The questions this week are: What kind of group does Tom discuss that can determine your success or failure? He, also, discusses “you will become the combined average of people you hang around most.” How many people does he suggest hanging around and what are the three areas you and your “people” will experience together? Do you think you can identify your “people” that you spend most of your time with? What kind of group can determine your success or failure? Choosing who you hang out with and involve in your life can determine your successes or failures. The five people you spend the most time with is who you become the most similar to. You end up sharing attitudes, healthy habits, and anxiousness that they feel. Earlier today my boyfriend failed his anatomy exam. He was feeling extremely down; this was something I felt upset about as well. I feel as though you tend to share the feelings and attitudes that others go through. This was interesting to think about because I have always heard the term “you become who you hangout with.” Tom mentions the many ways that successful communication and relationships can impact your life. It can affect your health, happiness, and resilience. The way that you look at life can also be influenced by others. What are the three areas you and your “people” will experience together? Those you hangout with will share many of the same experiences, attitudes, and outlook on life. Tom mentions that our co-workers share a lot of our experiences as well. I spend 12- hour shifts with my night-shift crew. Their bad night is my bad night. We share laughter, memories, and we are with patients at their most vulnerable moments.
