1.Discuss the importance and dynamics of working within a team.
A team is a unit of two or more people who share a mission and responsibility to achieve a
common goal. Working within a team is very important as it has several advantages. Some of the
major advantages are listed below.
1. Increases in information and knowledge pooling the resources of several individuals,
team have an access to more information in the decision making process.
2. Diversity of views
3. Acceptance of Solutions
4. Level of performance
Strong team is an asset to any organization. Effective team has a clear objective and sense of
purpose. There is always an open communication which avoids miscommunication thus
providing healthy working environment and confliction resolution. Also a team has shared
decision making. An effective team has creative thinking. Looking at all these it is very crucial to
working within a team.
Team dynamics are the psychological factors that drives team’s performance and behavior. A
positive team dynamics occur when team members trust each other, work together and hold each
other accountable. Team that effectively support other members can increase productivity.
Successful teams comprise members who have an understanding of their own roles in the group
as well as their teammates roles and responsibility. Positive team dynamics increases motivation
which is very beneficial for an organization as the employee have positive attitude towards their
team so they work together which is profitable for an organization.
Team dynamics in the workplace are important as they impact creativity, productivity and
effectiveness. A better team leads to better output. Team dynamics can bring a lot of benefits to
the organization as it shows up the full potential of employees via their skills and experience.

a) Verbal and Non-verbal Communication

Verbal Communication

Communication in which words (spoken or written) are used to transmit information is

called verbal communication. It is basically the use of sounds and words to express

oneself, especially in contrast to using gestures or mannerisms. It can be done in two

ways:

1) Oral Communication: It is exchange of information and ideas through spoken

words. E.g. face to face conversation, telephonic conversation, lectures,

speeches, conferences, etc.

2) Written Communication: It is sending of messages, orders or instructions in

writing. E.g. letters, emails, SMS, newsletters, etc.

We use verbal communication to inform, whether it is to inform others of our needs or

to impart knowledge. Verbal communication helps to clarify misunderstanding and

provides missing information. Effective verbal communication builds a healthy

relationship in workplace, team or in any organization.

Non-Verbal Communication

Non-Verbal communication includes all unwritten and unspoken messages, both

intentional and unintentional. Many of the non-verbal messages that we send are used

intentionally to accompany spoken words. Non-verbal communication can supplement

or even replace verbal message (those that use words).

Types of Non-verbal Communication

Forms of nonverbal communication are many and varied and can provide extensive

insight into a person’s thoughts or feelings. Forms of nonverbal communication can be

categorized to better understand their place in everyday interactions:

 Gestures include motion of the head or limbs.

1.Discuss on the topic “Critical Thinking”. Critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally about what to do or what to believe. In other words, it is the way of thinking about any subject, content or problem in which the thinker improves the quality of his or her thinking by skillfully taking charge of structures inherent in thinking and imposing intellectual standards upon them. It entails effective communication and problem solving abilities. A critical thinker thinks open mindedly within alternative system of thought, recognizing and assessing, as need be, and their practical consequences. They raise important questions and problems formulating them clearly and precisely. Moreover, they gather relevant information and ideas to interpret it effectively. By practicing critical thinking, we are allowing ourselves not only to solve problems but also come up with new and creative ideas to do so. Critical thinking allows us to analyze these ideas and adjust them accordingly. Without critical thinking, we actually cannot live meaningful life. We need this skill to self-reflect and justify our ways of life and opinions. Critical thinking provides tools to evaluate ourselves in the way that we need to.

  1. What do you understand by ethics? What is its' importance? Ethics are the accepted principles of conduct that govern behavior within a society. Put on other way, ethical principles define the boundary between right and wrong. It is defined as knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is the right things to do. Types of Ethics:

    2. Social ethics
    3. Professional ethics – right and wrong defined by profession. Ethics in Information Technology: Public concern about the ethical use of information technology includes:

    5. Downloading in violation of copyright laws
    6. Unsolicited e-mail (spam)
    7. Hackers and identity theft
    8. Students and plagiarism

  1. Describe some steps while making a decision? Steps in Decision Making
    1. Identify Your Goal: First and Foremost, one should keep an eye on the goal. Identify the purpose of your decision and know what is the problem and why the problem needs to be solved. This enables to make a proper decision.
    2. Collect Information: While making decision one should gather all necessary information that is related to problem. By doing so, one can have proper idea about how the problem can be solved. The best way is to make a list of every possible alternative. And also take opinions from trustworthy people so that you can come up with various ideas and solutions.
    3. Consider your Consequences: This step helps to determine how final decision will impact yourself and other involved. This is very important step as it allows to analyze the advantage and disadvantage of options.
    4. Make your Decision: Be accountable and make decision keeping in mind the goals, information and consequences.
    5. Evaluate your Decision: Once final decision is made, it’s time to put it into action, it is necessary to evaluate the decision and the steps that are taken to ensure that it works. This step will help further develop decision making skills for future problems. 4.What are the factors you should consider when working in a team? For effectively working in a team following factors should be considered:
  2. Communication: Effective communication is the most important part of teamwork. While working as a team there shouldn’t be any communication gap amongst team member. Being a good communicator is also about being a good listener. Communication develops trust and hence creates a healthy working environment.
  3. Delegation: Team that work well together understand the strength and weakness of each team member. Team leader and members can identify all aspects of a project and assign task to most appropriate team members.
  4. Ideas: A respectful and trusting team environment will not only enable colleagues to think more creatively, but will lead to more productive and collaborative brain storming sessions.
  5. Motivation: When employees are motivated, they work better. Being part of a team that supports you with your work goes a long way. Motivation boost the team member’s ability to work.
  6. Deal with conflict: Conflict tends to throw a team of its focus, getting it away from its goals and objectives. By learning to deal with conflict immediately, a team can remain effective at all times. 6.What is the importance of Continuing Professional Development Plan? A professional development plan is a road map containing the skills, strategy and education needed to grow in career and life to achieve professional goals. It is mainly related with careers in which its compulsory, like teaching, but it’s something that everyone should be utilizing in their lives. These plans enable to level-up one’s life. It also identifies milestones in terms of completion of goals and objectives that helps to assess progress towards the desired outcomes.
