a03_information folder). Once saved, open this local file from your disk in Microsoft Word and type in your answers. Be sure to
save again once you’ve typed in your answers. MAKE SURE YOU ARE SAVING TO YOUR FLASH DRIVE, not the hard drive
of the computer! Save the completed assignment as a03_information.doc inside the a03_information folder on your flash
drive.
3. When done, print out 1 copy of the completed assignment to turn in to the instructor.

GATHER ADDITIONAL SOURCES (10 points):

  1. Gather 5 (or more) additional sources for your topic. This may include, but is not limited to: brochures, newspaper or magazine articles (online or from the Library), literature obtained from the client, and existing website entries or blog postings. a. I will not accept all materials from one source, for example, their BGSU website. b. I will accept one personal interview as a source, but the questions and answers must be documented. c. You may also use resources from other universities on a similar subject, but different organization.

  3. Attach all five collected sources to this printed assignment and turn in all materials to your instructor. As you continue to gather more materials, keep all resources in your class binder for reference as you write and develop your story and website.

STORY PLAN (10 points):

Complete the following outline with a story plan for your Short Feature using these guidelines. You will use this outline as a guide as you write your story and develop your website. Your final story, however, may vary from this outline as you collect new information.

  1. Develop a catchy story title for your short feature (SUGGESTION: DO THIS LAST).
  2. List the appropriate category for your story
  3. Story Topic: Write down 3 topic headings for your story. These headings should be the specific elements of your story that will achieve your goals or mission.
  4. Sub Topic: For each topic heading, list at least two descriptors, facts, or additional information to help clarify your story topic. You may list broad topics, then fill in the details later once you’ve collected more information.
  5. Video Element: Describe an appropriate video to enhance your topic (i.e. interview with chairman about this topic, :30 second clip of tractors at Tractor Pull, :30 second clip of band on stage). A video should provide additional material that can’t be captured as vividly in print. Consider things that have more impact with audio and movement such as an interview, a sport, or music.
  6. Photo Element: Describe a visual that will enhance your topic (i.e. map of Bowling Green showing natural wetlands, dogs being walked on leash at Humane Society, a group of students dancing at Dance Marathon).
