Question 1. You have been hired as the Information Systems Manager for a large multinational corporation. Describe the steps that you would take to develop an IS Strategy for the organization. [33 Marks]

Question 2. It has been asserted that “ IT Doesn’t Matter” (Nicholas Carr). Explain the arguments for and against this assertion. [33 Marks]

Question 3. Digital Security has become a central concern for IS managers. (i) Describe the threats to digital security that a commercial organization might face. [18 Marks] (ii) How would an IS Manager develop and implement an IS Security Policy to lessen the likelihood of a successful attack. [8 Marks] (iii) In the event of a breach of digital security, how should an IS manager react? [ Marks]

Question 4. (i) Explain Nonaka's model of Knowledge Creation. [20 Marks] (ii) Show, using Nonaka's model, how Information Systems can support Knowledge Creation. [13 Marks]

Question 5. Write Notes on two of the following

  1. The differences between (i) functional and (ii) enterprise Information Systems.
  2. The “hidden traps in decision making” and the steps which organisations can take to avoid them.
  3. The benefits of E-Commerce to retailers. [33 Marks]
