Personal development plan (PDP):
It is the process of finding aims and goals that include where you want to reach and what
you want to achieve in short, medium and long term. Personal development plan is useful
as it helps to set our objectives and motivates us to work on it and achieve the targeted
goal. While studying or in workplace our minds get distracted very easily due to many
external forces and we cannot fully concentrate our mind where it needs to be. So, at this
moment the plan that we make is very helpful to work on a targeted goal. Personal
development plan helps to know our interest and strength that we already have and helps to
achieve our targeted goal by utilizing time maximum.
There are important steps that we need to keep in mind to create a personal development
plan. Some steps are listed below.
1. Defining our goal:
Asking question within our self like what we want to be in near future? which skills do we
want to pursue? Which position we want to hold? What things make us happy? And
similar questions help to define our goal. This step is important as it is directly related to
our career.
2. Prioritize:
Over our goals we need to know which goal is the most important and we need to go for
our key goal. Prioritizing and working on it helps to accomplish goal in much lesser time.
3. Setting a time limit to achieve any goals:
If you have a goal but if you do not have a time limit than yours goals will never be
accomplished. While planning we all must be realistic and allocate time accordingly.
4. Finding our ability:
Every person has his/her individual quality. Recognizing our strength is very challenging
and if recognized once than can build our life with in no time. Identifying our ability
makes us self-confident and enable us to flourish maximum.
5. Finding opportunities and threats:
Current behavior identifies our future success and failure. Changing the behaviors that

  2. Implementing in real field: Only thinking and sitting ideal does not make you success so we need to start working right now and must be hopeful. Success cannot be achieved overnight. It requires continuous efforts. The one who acts and work seriously can easily be success otherwise not implementing and not taking any action leads anyone to be behind than before.
  3. Viewing our progress: Having little progress also influence people to achieve more.so, tallying the past and present records we can easily find our progression and the progression that we make motivates us to work harder. Personal development plan helps to make us more conscious and find where we are lacking behind. Personal development plan is important in our academic fields and in career development. Professional development plan helps to utilize our time and motivate towards our goals. To achieve my desired goal and to be a successful IT officer (system administrator) I have designed a personal development plan.
