Good evening teacher and classmates, I’m going to talk about a
famous public space.
The Canout Theater
The Canout Theater was a dream come true by Mrs. Clara Canout
Cevallos who was always an enterprising woman, wanted to fulfill a
promise made to her father with something that would perpetuate her
surname.
He had four children, two women and two men, both men died young,
so his last name wouldn’t last in time. In 1936 Mrs. Clara traveled to
Europe and it was there that she thought of doing a Cinema Theater,
which she would call with her father's surname.
It’s located at Av. Petit Thouars 4550 Miraflores. It is one of the most
popular and famous theaters in Lima, accessible to the general public,
but there are several things that are not allowed in the theater.
when you go to the theater you can see that sign everywhere. You
can't record or take photos during the show for the copyright.
Every show or performance spends a lot of money and time on their
performances. People are supposed to follow this rule but, most
people can’t follow this rule. They record the shows and then post it
on their Facebook or any Social Media. I can’t stand this kind of
behavior.
People forget that, talking and texting are not permitted during the
show. It’s rude. Most people take photos or selfies. We are not
supposed to use the cell phone. It’s not allowed to do this! I hate it!
why is it important to go to the theater?
Theater teaches us different values, theater is nothing more than the
transmission of messages and feelings, the viewer receives a
constant stimulus that helps us understand the emotional state of
people.
Problems concerning its preservation…
The Canout Theater is currently going through a big problem. The
theater closes its curtain forever at a time complicated by the COVID-
19 pandemic. Producer Efraín Aguilar shows that the cultural space
in Miraflores will be closed permanently and will be demolished after
16 years of directing it.

Producer Efraín Aguilar shows that the cultural space in Miraflores will be closed permanently and will be demolished after 16 years of directing it.

The director has to pay more than $ 10,000 a month and although he has asked the ministry of culture or private companies for help, he has no response from anyone. The country's culture loses one main element, one less theater, because it will be demolished. It is difficult to see how society and government don’t help to preserve a cultural heritage. Our National Theaters must be treated with the same nobility with which they were built. Only then can they be extended over time as part of our history and culture. Thank you for listening to me!
