ESSAY - BANKERS WHO CAUSED ECONOMIC RECESSION
It goes without saying that an economic recession is one of the worst events a society can suffer
nowadays. Crisis affects outright to citizen’s wealth, and as a consequence to their standard of
living. It is undeniable that this situation was caused by many different factors, among which are
bankers.
At this point, we should think about wether they must be punished for what they did or not., and I
think I speak for a lot of people if I say that, in effect, they must be held accountable for what they
did.
Many people claims that the should be all locked up, but personally speaking I believe that prison
is a sentence that must be just applied for the most terrible crimes, since it supposes freedom’s
loss.
Another possibility more adequate would be fine’s imposition. This way bankers would be able to
repair the damage they caused through an economic compensation.
As can be expected, this recession wasn’t originated on purpose, but was the result of negligent
activities. This leads to the common and incorrect belief that all bankers are corrupts. From my
point of view, the conduct of each bank should be analyzed in terms to decide wether to sanction
them or not.
Given this points, I consider that bankers must pay for what they caused but the fine must be
proportional to their behavior.
