Introduction
With the arrival of internet our lives have changed, even more with the creation of the social
network. Nowadays, it’s a part of our day to day. We have many social networks, such as
Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn… but the most popular social network is Facebook.
Disadvantages/privacy
Many people use it to show what they do on their day to day, but others cross the line of
privacy and display personal information. It could help the thieves to know who or when are or
not at home, and then they know when they could break into.
Some years ago I attended to a speech of a policeman talking about it. He told us that are
increasing the number of “ciberthieves”, people who discovers where you live with a simple
photography.
Besides it, lots of teenagers are addicted to the social networks. It is an easy way to keep in
contact with the group, but some of them are connected too much time, three or four hours a
day.
It can also be a waste of time as people can visit a site to check on thing and end up spending
the whole day 'behind the screen' and as a result, not doing anything useful with their lives.
Advantages
But social networks not only have disadvantages. With a good use of it we can do a lot of
things. For example, we can show our CV and a company can contact with us to offer a job.
Moreover we can use the social network to keep in contact with people who doesn’t live in the
same area than us. Personally, I used to use the app Skype to talk with my sister when she was
working in Galicia, or when I was in Rome.
Other advantage is the useful that can result the tutorials of YouTube. We can learn quickly
how to do a craft, repair something or even cook.
With other social network we can also sell the things we have and not use. For example, my
sister created a bicycle by herself buying the components separately by one social network, in
Wallapop.
Conclusion
To sum up, I think social network is a good tool if you use it correctly, although we have to use
it carefully.
