Communication skills are the abilities you use when giving and receiving different kinds of information. Some examples include communicating new ideas, feelings or even an update on your project. Communication skills involve listening, speaking, observing and empathising. It is also helpful to understand the differences in how to communicate through face-to-face interactions, phone conversations and digital communications like email and social media. (Team, 2021) The ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and managers is essential, whatever sector you work in. Good communication improves teams, inspires high performance and enhances the workplace culture. Just remember, communication is a two-way process, so take notice of other people's verbal and nonverbal signals as well as your own. (BEQIRI, 2017) Benefits of group communication
Verbal communication refers to the utilization of words to express ourselves in front of other people. Thus it is an inclusion of both spoken and written communication. Although most people prefer verbal communication to describe only spoken communication. The verbal part of communication refers to the words that we choose, and how they are heard and interpreted. Problem-solving skills help you determine the source of a problem and find an effective solution. Although problem solving is often identified as its own separate skill, there are other related skills that contribute to this ability. (Team, 2020) Some key problem-solving skills include:
Pareto Chart A Pareto chart is a histogram or bar chart combined with a line graph that groups the frequency or cost of different problems to show their relative significance. The bars show frequency in descending order, while the line shows cumulative percentage or total as you move from left to right. (Foster, 2018)
(Foster, 2018) 5 Whys The 5 Whys is a method that uses a series of questions to drill down into successive layers of a problem. The basic idea is that each time you ask why, the answer becomes the basis of the next why. It’s a simple tool useful for problems where you don’t need advanced statistics, so you don’t necessarily want to use it for complex problems. (Foster, 2018)
No Problems Solutions 1 Bad weather Move all programs indoors 2 Broken car Contact other vehicles for people to move 3 Someone is sick Use the prepared medicine and if the patient gets worse, take him to the hospital
Critical reasoning is all about identifying, analysing and solving problems systematically. Some of the important chapters of critical reasoning are statement and argument, statement and assumption, statement and conclusion, statement and course of action, cause and effects and so on. (Chakraborty, 2020) In deductive reasoning there is a first premise, then a second premise and finally an inference (a conclusion based on reasoning and evidence). A common form of deductive reasoning is the syllogism, in which two statements — a major premise and a minor premise — together reach a logical conclusion. For example, the major premise "Every A is B" could be followed by the minor premise, "This C is A." Those statements would lead to the conclusion "This C is B." Syllogisms are considered a good way to test deductive reasoning to make sure the argument is valid. (Alina & Mindy, 2021) While deductive reasoning begins with a premise that is proven through observations, inductive reasoning extracts a likely (but not certain) premise from specific and limited observations. There is data, and then conclusions are drawn from the data; this is called inductive logic. (Alina & Mindy, 2021)
The importance of critical reasoning:
No Problems Analysis Evaluation Solutions 1 Traffic jam It's raining so it makes it difficult for vehicles to move Some people are sad because they can't get there on time, leaders worry because things don't go according to plan People move to another car to go another way 2 Someone has covid- 19 Company employees have been in contact with f0 and have sat with some people in the car People are worried and scared. Someone wants to cancel the program Transport suspected infected people to test for covid-19, if they are infected, they will be sent home and everyone else will continue the program
