Not only the intensity of radiation beams can be used for radiography. If the beam consists of monoenergetic heavy charged particles (protons, alphas …) then their energy decreases by penetration through material as depicted in following figure. Therefore, the structure of the object can be imaged by measurement of the energy loss of individual particles.
