Will my doctor suspect me of....?

"I was a normal weight Guy most of my life. Around 18 I had a mental illness and due to my new medication I gained a lot of weight. Part of my illness is that I now have an anxiety problem. I tried sum meds but they weren't for me. Paroxetine made my anxiety worse, got sexual dysfunction and apparently it gains weight. So wow, I discovered a Med that can treat my anxiety while not causing sexual dysfunction or weight gain. Actually lose weight and gain sexual function. I thinking if I talk to my doctor to prescribe me Wellbutrin, will she think I'm just trying to lose weight and using this Med wrongly?.... I have complained about my weight many times. ..... ill admit the weight loss potential excites me... but I have anxiety I want to rid of nd this is the only Med that sounds rite."

"wellbutrin is pretty hit and miss with respect to anxiety. May not help much and may even make it worse. Some do improve and it is worth a try. Also, don't hang much hope on weight loss. More weight neutral. DOES usually avoid the sexual side effects and may even treat those caused by other SSRIs. I wouldn't get upset if you asked me for wellbutrin by name, even if you told me you were hoping for weight loss. I would counsel you as my note above and congratulate you for doing the research. I would probably also give it a try, but might have you continue a low dose SSRI as a safety against increased anxiety. Suggest you talk to your doc, and if hesitant, ask for referral to a psychiatrist for another opinion."

"If you believe your medical professional would choose to you actually when compared with you want a completely new doctor. "
