"The hydrostatic force on the internal surface of the bottom of a vessel or ship pressinfg downward is = to the weight of the water in the vessel. The hydrostatic force on the external surface of the bottom of a vessel or ship pressing upward is = to the weight of the water in the ship plus the weight of the ship (or else the ship would sink)."
